17 Mind-Blowing Pancakes in Los Angeles, 2019 Edition Eater LA

the grain house

The Saturday and Sunday morning lines are no joke, but is worth the wait after one bite of these cakey monstrosities. There’s nothing quite like the quaint beach bungalow-turned pancake house Uncle Bill’s. The Manhattan Beach mainstay is quite the local hangout, with serious weekend lines. But when pancakes come with ocean views, who can really complain.

I was down the street at the Catch One, looked at Google for an open restaurant. The service was very good, vibe was good, and the food was very very good. 100% will come back here again, blown away how good this was!! Blackberry, Strawberry, blueberry, cherry spread topped with whipped cream. Waffle topped with berries, blackberry spread, whipped cream and powder sugar.

Playa Provisions is the third endeavor for Top Chef Winner Brooke Williamson and husband Nick Roberts. The unique model includes four different restaurant concepts nestled within one 7,000-square foot, beach side location. For dinner, Dockside exemplifies both Brooke and Nick’s love for California coastal cuisine at an intimate dining room and beach side patio. After dinner stop by Small Batch for a pint of house made ice cream, or sneak into the back and enjoy some darker spirits at Grain Whiskey Bar. Inspired by the city's "country marts," the four separate, yet cohesive dining experiences provide a taste for everyone.

We’ll get into more specifics below, but let’s talk about all the pieces you’ll need to have an effective farm in Manor Lords. Joanna Gaines’s KitchenAid stand mixer collaboration first debuted back in 2020. Fitting with the Fixer Upper star's brand aesthetic, her stand mixer iteration is coated in a soothing earth tone and a matte finish. Long considered one of the best pancakes in town, the incredible griddle produces some of the crispiest, fluffiest pancakes you’ve ever tried. The Griddle is the king of outrageous, Frisbee-sized pancakes. The menu has nearly twenty varieties of cardiac arrest-inducing options, from the Black Magic filled with crushed Oreos to the Saturday Morning Fever with Bailey’s and Kahlua batter.

In this crafty day and age, you don't have to stretch your budget for a high-end dresser. You can upgrade furniture you already have to look exactly like your favorite Pottery Barn piece with just a few simple materials. Advanced painting experience is not necessary to give your dresser a stunning DIY faux wood finish that would otherwise cost you a pretty penny.

This no-fuss 24/7 diner opened back in 1924, and has probably been serving these straightforward buttermilk pancakes since its opening day. There’s not much that needs to be said about these flapjacks – eating them at the restaurant’s worn counter just feels right. Loaded with more butter than one really wants to think about, Jon & Vinny’s has made itself a serious contender for best pancakes in LA. They’re as straightforward as they get with light, fluffy buttermilk pancakes served with the usual accoutrements of maple syrup, a generous helping of salted butter and berries. Great customer service, I will only order leather from the hide house from now on. Brown rice, beans, daily greens, land and sea vegetable, pressed salad and one dressing, sauce.

I like that they do not gouge on shipping costs like most suppliers. First time wholesale customers will see their pricing adjusted after the order is submitted. Now retired from the entertainment business, the timeless Higgins/Verbeck/Hirsch Mansion and its incredible story live on. After the Great Depression, the home fell into disrepair over a half century of neglect. During this time, it was used as a retirement home for nuns, a mission, an office, and a rooming house for young aspiring actors. In 1924, the home's new owner had the house cut into three sections, lifted onto trucks, and rolled to its current location in Windsor Square.

Our Hard Red and Hard White varieties can’t be beat for baking strength. Baked falafel, hummus, salad, tomatoes and cucumber with a tahni sauce. An array of seasonal organic fresh fruits served with coconut yogurt. What tasks your farm takes on depends on the season — there’s a bit of wiggle room on the dates, but the following is generally true. In the Construction menu, pick Farming and then choose a Field. This will let you place four points to define a plot of farmland.

And the crew is amazing, so knowledgeable, helpful and conscientious! Quality products, awesome staff very knowledgeable of the leather world to guide you to the right leather. Our family has been doing business with The Hide House now for close to 40 years if I'm not mistaken. And I Highly recommend them for All your leather wants and needs.

Mixed greens, avocado, cabbage, red pepper, cherry tomato, toasted in our balsamic vinaigrette. Marinated tempeh, thousand island dressing onions, tomato, melted daiya cheese and sauerkraut on sour dough bread. Tofu egg, onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, spinach, avocado served with baked potatoes. This means that you’ll only ever have two fields with crops planted — for a total of 0.6 morgen worth of crops. That just so happens to be about how much a family can manage in a year. Meanwhile, you’ll always have one fallow field that’s resetting its fertility.

This airy pancake somewhat reminiscent of a crepe is about the size of your face, and comes with lemon and powdered sugar. We've bought our leather from the Hide House for years and still do. Excellent service and the leather has stayed the same good quality.

This down and dirty family-run restaurant has been serving West LA since 1982. That homey feel comes across in the pancakes, the no-nonsense buttermilk flapjacks that come golden and relatively thick. If it’s classic buttermilk stacks on the radar, old school diners like The Original Pantry fit the bill, and with 24-hour service at that. The City of Angels is also home to some outrageously decadent versions, most notably from West Hollywood’s iconic The Griddle.

Install your new hardware, and your high-end dresser revamp is complete. The vegan and gluten-free pancakes at this Highland Park cafe come with toasted coconut and a dram of Vermont maple syrup. Light, flakey, and topped with fresh berries, the butter won’t be missed. What you will find here is a resource for top quality freshly milled flour, an exploration of wheat, milling and baking, and an unapologetic rejection of the status quo.

We are proud to be open for both lunch and dinner, and we have a full-service bar. Fireside dining is available throughout the restaurant, and we offer seasonal patio dining. With an ambiance dating back to the 18th century, The Grain House offers casual dining in a unique setting.

Whole wheat bread soaked in vanilla soy milk served with fresh fruits. Tofu Egg, Sausage, cheddar cheese with our special sauce on a toasted english muffin. Indulge your senses at one of the best restaurants in Basking Ridge. The Grain House Restaurant at the Olde Mill lnn offers classic American cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Hildy Good, once the most prosperous realtor in Wendover, has fallen on hard times following her divorce and family's insistence she go to rehab for alcoholism. Her former assistant, Wendy, also stole her clients while she was in rehab, adding to her problems. Hildy attempts to aid a local family with an autistic child sell their home, so they can move and enroll him in a special school by getting her former boyfriend, Frank, to renovate their home. She renews her relationship with Frank, but the home sale falls through, and she finds out her former clients yet again are stolen by Wendy. In the film’s sharp comic observations, though, and especially its two fine leads, something real and messy sparks to life. The film’s ultimate shift to addiction drama isn’t in itself a problem, but the events that bring Hildy to a devastating point of self-recognition feel like a clutter of contrivances rather than an involving chain of inevitability. Hildy (Sigourney Weaver), a divorced small-town realtor, struggles to feel normal in her day-to-day life. A struggling alcoholic, Hildy constantly spends her days lying and creating excuses to justify her drinking. When her family stages an intervention, she must come to terms with what her drinking is doing to everyone around her. Co-directed by Maya Forbes and Wallace Wolodarsky, this film is based on Ann Leary's novel of the same name.

The company’s investment partners include Reliance Entertainment, Entertainment One (eOne), Alibaba Pictures and Universal Pictures. None of these characters is nearly as richly drawn or interesting as Hildy and Frank, but increasingly, the story turns toward them and others. They feel like contrivances and plot devices, especially in some third-act melodrama that comes out of nowhere and whips the story up into an empty frenzy. It’s so wild, you’ll wonder what’s really happening and what she’s hallucinating.

But the one source of stability in her life comes from Kline’s Frank Getchell, her high school flame and first love. He’s the town’s cantankerous contractor/handyman, and his disheveled appearance and down-to-Earth demeanor would never suggest he’s the richest guy around. Their hesitant fumblings toward rekindling their romance are amusing and sweet—the kind of relationship older audiences don’t get to see often enough in the movies anymore.

A big fish in a small pond, Hildy has long been a highly successful real estate agent in her hometown on Boston’s North Shore. Wealthy investors and corporate interests are moving in, a onetime protégé (Kathryn Erbe, in a thanklessly cartoonish role) has become a cutthroat competitor, and business isn’t what it used to be. Hildy Good, the whip-smart and self-deluding Realtor at the center of The Good House, spends a significant portion of screen time breaking a wall — the fourth one, that is. In lesser hands, such a narrative device could be distracting or downright annoying. But Hildy, an alcoholic who’s pretending to be in recovery, is played by Sigourney Weaver, who makes every exasperated glance, incisive put-down and dissembling excuse absolutely magnetic.

the good house movie cast

And although she’s freshly out of rehab—after an intervention that’s played for laughs in the script from the husband-and-wife directing duo and Thomas Bezucha—being sober is not part of her new identity. The two actors’ previous onscreen pairings include The Ice Storm, Ang Lee’s masterpiece and one of the great films about American suburbia. The Good House has nothing particularly incisive to say about its locale, or even about the business of real estate. Hildy’s success means that she’ll be helping to change her burg into one of those tony destinations filled with second homes and showy estates. There are big questions churning beneath the story, yet even Hildy’s personal turmoil feels somehow too neat.

So much works so well for so long in “The Good House” that it’s frustrating when the film casts its eye elsewhere and begins paying way too much attention to the town’s peripheral figures. Rob Delaney co-stars as the therapist whose office is upstairs from Hildy’s; he’s obviously going through some kind of personal and professional flux of his own. Morena Baccarin is a newcomer, the beautiful wife in a wealthy couple that’s just bought a giant waterfront estate, but everything in her life isn’t as perfect as it appears. Kathryn Erbe is the former protégé of Hildy’s who stole all her clients when she formed her own agency; there’s not much to her beyond icy glances and snobbery.

Wine doesn’t really count as drinking, Sigourney Weaver’s character insists in “The Good House.” She’s not really drinking alone, because the dogs are with her in the kitchen as she pours merlot from her secret stash into a coffee mug. And she’ll be extra careful this time, she promises, so she’s fine to drive into town after downing a few glasses. Hildy Good, a wry New England realtor and descendant of the Salem witches who loves her wine and loves her secrets. Her compartmentalized life starts to unravel as she rekindles an old romance and becomes dangerously entwined in one person’s reckless behavior. In contrast, the local inflection in Frank’s speech expresses his down home lack of pretension; he’s self-sufficient and, unlike Hildy, couldn’t give a damn what people think of him.

Watching Hildy try to keep all the balls in the air is both a source of humor and tension, as the disparity between who she is and who she pretends to be steadily widens. She’s losing clients and dodging phone calls from the Range Rover dealership, asking for her lease payment. That’s all human and true, and Weaver plays it with subtlety and great comic timing.

MovieMeter aims to be the largest, most complete movie archive with reviews and rankings, in the World. It’s a treat to watch her react to the off-the-charts self-involvement of her useless young assistant (a terrifically funny turn by Imogene Forbes Wolodarsky, the directors’ daughter). Unapologetically judgmental and keenly perceptive, Hildy harbors a massive blind spot only when it comes to her own life.

And Beverly D’Angelo breezes in and out as Hildy’s childhood best friend and longtime drinking buddy. Hildy’s narration is wry and wise, sometimes conspiratorial and increasingly contradictory, as she shows us around the charming (and fictional) New England town of Wendover. She’s been the queen bee realtor for decades in this insular hamlet, but all that’s changing as nouveau riche families barge in from nearby Boston. Hildy’s proud of the fact that her family’s been a fixture in Wendover for centuries—dating to the time of the Salem witches, one of whom is her ancestor. (Cue the on-the-nose use of “Season of the Witch,” among the movie’s many perky music choices.) Now divorced (since her husband left her for a man) and infrequently in touch with her grown daughters, Hildy is struggling to determine who she is.

In Weaver’s enthralling performance, though, they have their story’s beating heart. And with Bezucha they’ve crafted some deliriously stinging lines for their star. In a comic drama also featuring Kevin Kline, the 'Alien' star plays a New England real estate agent who understands all her neighbors’ problems but is deep in denial about her own.

My name is Ronnie and it is my goal to bring you the best Southern-inspired recipes, reviews, and restaurants from the South and beyond. To be honest we almost did not go because so many people told us the food was not good but the dessert was. I thought both of our dishes was fantastic!. Ronnie, I've found that restaurants with huge menus are usually not very good.

The Cheesecake Factory is my one exception to that rule. I've loved everything I've ever had there. We don't have one nearby, but I've eaten at various ones while traveling. Two of my favorites are the Chicken Piccata (with mashed potatoes instead of angel hair pasta) and the Pasta Da Vinci.

The Cheesecake Factory is a beautiful restaurant. It reminds me of pictures I have seen of restaurants and buildings in Italy. My wife and I have been trying to eat at The Cheesecake Factory in Charlotte, NC for years. Every time we would try, there would be a long wait.

Dessert

For instance, I ordered Chicken Madeira, one of their specialty dishes. My wife ordered Orange Chicken, an Asian-inspired dish. When you walk into the restaurant, it is truly breathtaking. I do not believe I have ever been to a more beautiful chain restaurant before. We walked up and added our names to the list, It is going to be an hour wait the lady said.

There are also new-to-market additions in Charlotte. One such concept, Puerta, will be opening later this month, paying homage to Mexican food and spirits in Elizabeth. Let’s be honest here, most people come for dessert right? On the way out, they have a huge counter where you can order any type of cheesecake you can imagine. I got Fresh Strawberry Cheesecake and my wife got Oreo Dream Extreme Cheesecake.

Food items range from hamburgers to southern comfort food, to Asian-inspired dishes. Choose from more than 250 dishes made fresh from scratch every day and more than 40 legendary cheesecakes and desserts. Though not locally based, The Cheesecake Factory is set to open its second Charlotte-area restaurant this month at Birkdale Village in Huntersville. That 2,500-square-foot location will mark the fifth for the brand. Charlotte brewery Resident Culture is also putting its next location in uptown, at The Market at 7th Street. It plans to open that 300-square-foot bar — its third location in Charlotte — this month.

SouthPark Mall

According to The Cheesecake Factory Website, it all started in the 1940s when Evelyn Overton found a recipe in her local Detroit newspaper. This recipe inspired her to make the Original Cheesecake that we all know and love today. Enjoy the high-energy atmosphere seven days a week, serving appetizers, lunch, dinner, late night dining, full bar, Saturday & Sunday brunch, and curbside To-Go service. In a different part of the Charlotte area, local chef Jim Noble just opened his fourth location of Bossy Beulah’s Chicken Shack in Fort Mill. That’s as local franchisees brought the region’s third Slim Chickens to Indian Trail. They really make the best cheesecake but I also have to say the food we ate beforehand was really good as well.

Restaurant Bites: The Cheesecake Factory to open, SouthPark spots closing

We stood up next to the wall and a nice couple walked up and handed us their pager. They said you will only have a five-minute wait. So we waited for about five minutes and sure enough, they called us back.

The People’s Market, for starters, is teeing up its second location in Charlotte about a year after making a revival in the Elizabeth neighborhood. The Cheesecake Factory menu features more than 200 menu selections made fresh each day. The Cheesecake Factory doesn’t just serve cheesecake. The menu is very diverse and should offer something to please even the strictest palate.

Eventually, they moved to Los Angeles and gave the business one more shot. It was a success and she was now selling her famous cheesecakes to restaurants all over Los Angeles. Charlotte wasn’t without its restaurant closures in July either. Bonterra closed in SouthPark late last month, ending its 24-year run in Charlotte. And Dogwood Southern Table & Bar, also in SouthPark, will close in August, with celebrity chef David Burke buying its lease and assets to open a new concept there.

Some of the specialties on the menu are kibbeh, which are crisply fried beef and wheat shells stuffed with more juicy ground beef with pine nuts and spices; grilled spiced leg of lamb shawarma; braised lamb shanks; and beef kafta kabobs – a special hand formed, grilled mixture of ground beef with herbs and spices. Also on the menu are other kabobs and classics such as stuffed grape leaves, tabbouleh salad, falafel and lentil soup. Merguez, a spicy North African sausage made with beef and lamb is also offered here. Also on the menu are a wide variety of kebabs, gyro and chicken shawarma sandwiches, salads including fatoush with fried pita chips, hummus, falafel and more. House of Gucci movie review & film summary 2021

jared leto house of gucci

LETO When I shot Dallas Buyers Club, I remember going somewhere and having people treat me completely differently. To not be recognized by your fellow actors was a whole other level — Jeremy Irons told me he didn’t realize it was me in our first scene. The other movie was Scarface, funnily enough.

Awards Season Calendar: Key Dates for Oscars, Emmys, Tonys and Other Major Events

Then there’s Aldo’s son, Paolo, a frustrated designer who dresses in things like lavender corduroy suits. Then Maurizio introduces Patrizia to his father, the elegant and formidable Rodolfo (Jeremy Irons), once a minor screen actor, now a vampirish tycoon with Klimt’s “Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer” hanging on the wall of his parlor. He’s the lordly co-owner and patriarch of the Gucci brand; he can’t conceive that his only son would wed someone who is this beneath him. Maurizio, however, wins the audience’s admiration for standing by his romantic convictions. He marries Patrizia (to the tune of George Michael’s “Faith”), even as his father cuts him out of the family fortune. House of Gucci, released by United Artists Releasing, is the highest grossing drama during the pandemic, making close to $52M stateside and $145M WW.

Hot Docs Festival: Middle Eastern Films Get Spotlight Amid Israel-Hamas War

It’s not fair to call these performances dull, as they’re only mimicking the film’s portrayal of these real-life figures, but it’s also hard to call them incredible or entertaining at times. I’d argue that if we didn’t have Jared Leto’s performance as Paolo Gucci in House of Gucci, the movie would be panned for being overly heavy-handed and frankly not fun to watch. House of Gucci is about an obscenely rich family, and how greed, betrayal and murder ultimately led to their ousting from the company that bears their name. It’s incredibly dark, to the point it’s not all that fun to witness.

jared leto house of gucci

You’re in!

He made me shake with fear, but it was beautiful.

Paolo Gucci died from heart and kidney failure at the age of 64, a few months after the murder of his cousin, Maurizio. Also in the mix is Aldo’s son Paolo, brought to life by Jared Leto, whose outrageous (and extremely fun) gaudiness single-handedly earns the aforesaid “rock concert” analogy. Leto’s approach to the role instantly proves apt for Paolo, an incompetent businessman wannabe and an aspiring fashion designer with little taste and even less talent.

Casting

After an argument between Maurizio and Patrizia, he decides he is tired of his wife's influence on himself and the company. He orders his wife and daughter to return to Italy and begins an affair with Paola, which Pina seemingly senses. Aldo introduces Patrizia to his eccentric son Paolo, who aspires to be a designer within Gucci despite his lack of talent. Aldo helps Maurizio and a terminally ill Rodolfo reconcile shortly before the latter's death.

We see Patrizia Reggiani and Maurizio Gucci go from lovers who didn’t give a damn about fortune to it being the only thing that defines them. It’s captivating to watch, but by the end, there’s not a damn thing likable about these two, and it’s not like the rest of the Gucci family is portrayed any better. Like Scott’s 2017 Getty family drama All the Money in the World, House of Gucci does a solid job of evoking its recent-history milieu, boasting a beige and brown palette that reeks of nicotine and caffeine, with occasional bursts of reportage-style monochrome. Musically, it’s a cheesy jukebox treat, Pavarotti and Tracy Chapman rubbing shoulders with Caterina Caselli and Blondie, and a wedding played out to the strains of George Michael’s Faith. That’s certainly how Jeremy Irons’s increasingly vampiric Rodolfo sees her when he disowns his son for marrying into a family of “truck drivers!

Rodolfo writes Maurizio back into his will but fails to sign the document attesting him the 50% interest in Gucci shares before he dies, so Patrizia forges Rodolfo's signature on Rodolfo's updated testament. "Subtlety is the hardest," the actor says. "Silence is the most important note you can play. We're all made up of those nuances. I don't want to give away all of my secrets—I have to keep some for myself." And we'll keep trying to figure it all out, wherever the next chestnut falls. "It's not a good thing to do to your body," he says, but it was helpful going out in public with a menacing demeanor, weird enough that people "recoiled" from him. "It was a very dark piece of material, at a time when I was interested in that sort of thing," he recalls.

Leto, when he arrived on set, even fooled co-star Al Pacino (who plays his father Aldo), The Godfather actor blown away by the 360-degree costume. Leto didn't realize it at the time, but the first step in preparing to play Gucci came 16 years ago on the set of Lonely Hearts, where he spent hours plucking hairs out of his head to make himself bald enough to play the serial killer Raymond Fernandez. It was a "brutal" decision that didn't end up working, he admits, though Leto initially wanted to try again in creating Gucci's hairless dome ("I was going to shave my head"). Practicality stood in the way, so he used a bald cap to complete his metamorphosis into the family outcast who, like him, suffered for his art.

Ridley decided that we didn’t need it and we got rid of it. I mean, I’ve been very lucky, at one point, the script was 150 pages long, which is kind of insane. It got down to 135 by the time we were shooting.

Through it all, Salma Hayek’s naive psychic Pina guides the increasingly distraught queen-bee Patrizia with prophecies about the future, lending the film some of its most hysterical scenes. Leto strayed from movies for nearly six years after Chapter 27, touring with his band, Thirty Seconds to Mars, until he read the script for Dallas Buyers Club, which presented another opportunity to disappear—even on set. "They only saw one person there and it certainly wasn't Jared Leto," he recalls of the production, for which he lost 40 pounds and waxed his body, spending time on and off set wearing the same clothes that Rayon—the HIV-positive trans woman he played—would. "I was in a very frail, very vulnerable place."

When you're in a rock band, you sell merch. But, no, I have too much respect for Alessandro and the team at Gucci to ever pretend that I'm a designer so far. House of Gucci is currently available to watch in theaters.

Leto stars in Sony/Marvel’s Morbius next and tells us that Tron 3 is happening, with a script set to be delivered quite soon. Sure, every actor strives and yearns for such high standards, but Leto outstrips many in his transformation into pudgy fashion designer Paolo Gucci in MGM’s Ridley Scott movie House of Gucci, the one Gucci who like Rodney Dangerfield, just couldn’t get respect. When Patrizia gets rejected by shy Maurizio’s traditional and haughty father Rodolfo (Jeremy Irons)—he quietly shames Patrizia’s lack of cultural finesse—she finds a welcome ally in Uncle Aldo (Al Pacino). He is the quality and class-insistent Rodolfo’s calculating brother, with a commercialist attitude that differs from his sibling’s when it comes to reviving Gucci’s flailing image in the ‘70s and rising above the brand’s whispered-about financial hardship. Like the rest of the star-studded cast — Lady Gaga as Patrizia Reggiani, Adam Driver as Maurizio Gucci and Al Pacino as Aldo Gucci — Leto lived as much as possible in character during shooting. “We usually apply makeup on set, but Jared wanted us to apply this at a separate location.

I think when people saw the trailer, they weren’t just paying attention to the makeup — they saw his characteristics, which were really believable. Because I’m completely fucking crazy, I suppose. I think to do this, you have to be a little nutty. There are harder jobs in the world than being an actor, but it does have its unique set of pressures — mostly psychological. I wanted to be a visual artist, a painter. I studied visual art and found photography, then film, and I dropped out of school.

And then there is Jared Leto, an actor whose mantra of late seems to be “never knowingly underplayed”. As Aldo’s idiot son Paolo, Leto appears to be starring in his own private awards audition tape. Having walked the full length of the hair and makeup counter, he arrives on screen resembling Andy Kaufman’s absurdist alter ego Tony Clifton, a prosthetic symphony of silly suits and protruding guts. As for his voice, while others adopt faintly ridiculous Italian inflections, Leto delivers his lines in a string of high-pitched whoops that suggest he is attempting to communicate with whales.

Sly Uncle Aldo (Al Pacino) is more enamoured, falling for Patrizia’s brassy charms, allowing her and his nephew to get their hooks into the fashion house he co-owns with his brother. One minute, Patrizia is a trucking magnate’s daughter, the next she’s Lady Macbeth, preparing to “take out the trash”. “The most Gucci of them all” is how Patrizia Reggiani described herself in a 2014 interview and, judging by this entertainingly ripe, comedically tinged tragedy, she has a point. Variously known as “Lady Gucci” and “Black Widow”, Reggiani became the centre of a very 1990s scandal involving lust, money, fashion, murder… and a clairvoyant. Gaga and Driver had their own makeup and hair teams, but makeup designer Jana Carboni oversaw the looks, collaborating with the actors’ teams and presenting mood boards based on her extensive research of photos, books and of course, Vogue Italia. “What you saw in ’70s America was not the look of ’70s Italy,” Carboni says.

House of Gucci’s Screenwriter on Lady Gaga’s Ad-libs and Why Jared Leto Keeps Saying ‘Boof!’

He trusted Göran and I to come up with something that works. What Göran did that was astounding was not just bring this character to life — and shocked the world, as evidenced by people’s reactions to not knowing I’m actually in the movie — he did it in the shortest amount of time. GöRAN LUNDSTRöM This job was unusual in so many ways. It was Jared who basically hired me — I didn’t even know it was a Ridley Scott project when [Jared reached out to] me. I tried to listen to Jared as much as possible, because he needs to wear [the prosthetics].

Jared Leto On His Metamorphosis Into Paolo Gucci In ‘House Of Gucci’

Also it’s a much more empathetic character. I’m not a huge fan of talking about sympathetic protagonists. But at the same time, you want to feel something for that person, you know?

How Jared Leto Completely Transformed Into His ‘House of Gucci’ Character

The biggest thing with her was whether her powers are real or not. For example, Ridley doesn’t believe in that. But I liked the idea that maybe she is a fraud, except for that one time when Maurizio’s shagging the femme fatale, [Paola] Franchi, and Pina gets a real message, a real psychic connection. Is it any wonder the real-life Gucci family is fretting about their depiction in the film?

If I had to pick three, I would definitely say Sunset Boulevard was a huge one. I actually remember pitching it to Giannina and Ridley as Sunset Boulevard, but told from Norma Desmond’s point of view, as opposed to the William Holden character. When you’re writing something like this, this massive thing in terms of all these storylines and characters, you have to grab onto a couple through lines, things you can hold onto for dear life as you’re writing. As Patrizia and Maurizio, with their nearly rhyming names, settle into their modest life and give birth to a daughter, the film introduces the other members of the Gucci clan. There is Aldo, Rodolfo’s brother and the co-owner of the company; he’s played by Al Pacino with a twinkly rasp and a shrug of real-world materialism that makes him instantly likable.

My plan was to become an actor first, so I could get a job as a director. I’ve had the opportunity to be behind the camera a ton in the past decade and a half, and I fell in love with the process. I feel like when you play a real person, you have an obligation to do the work to bring to life an impression that's true to the spirit of the character. So I really leaned into that and did my homework. Has anyone connected to the Gucci family reached out or watched the movie? I have no idea if they’ve seen the film or not.

LUNDSTRöM The first thing you have to do is try to figure out what you’re actually supposed to be building. The biggest problem here was the fact that it is a drama, not a fantasy movie. And not just any movie, but one with Al Pacino and Lady Gaga. I just couldn’t think about that, because the challenge is [already] so demanding.

jared leto house of gucci

Almost every line of dialogue he utters is comedic, even in his saddest moments. It almost feels disrespectful to the rest of the movie until you realize what House of Gucci is without it. Jared Leto’s performance has received the most scrutiny from those who knew Paolo Gucci. Tom Ford indicated that, while eccentric, the actual Paolo wasn’t quite as off-the-wall, and the designer’s daughter Patrizia Gucci said the portrayal was embarrassing. It seems there are grounds to say the portrayal is not entirely accurate to real life, but I’ll argue that Jared Leto’s performance is necessary to House of Gucci or it doesn’t succeed on any other level. House of Gucci is here, and it’s quickly become one of the most polarizing movies of 2021.

And then this year with “Cyrano” — I’ve always seen the character of Christian played a bit vacant or vacuous. I’m having quite a love affair with acting. I took about six years off before “Dallas Buyers Club.” I’ve always been grateful for acting, but I had a lot of conflict around it. But I really have to say, my perspective on it has changed a lot. In the scene where Aldo knows he’s been sold out by Maurizio to foreign investors, he talks about designing a rare pair of Gucci shoes for Clark Gable with gold leaf hidden in the sole. Aldo definitely designed the shoes Clark Gable wore in Mogambo.

So, he would show up on set as Paolo Gucci,” says Lundström. One Oscar win later, it's fair to say that whatever Leto did worked. But sometimes his tactics are more oblique. "The only gifts I ever gave Margot were cupcakes, I think I gave her a mouse, and some of the other guys got gifts that you'd get as a joke at a party," he says. The run-up to Gucci is a stark contrast to the time he prepared to murder a Beatle.

Both were loveably hapless, and bitter when passed over for the top job as their father’s successor. Driver, who plays the murder victim was asked about his evolution from an idealistic wannabe lawyer who could do good to a materialist who spent lavishly and strained the coffers of the company, was asked how much Patrizia was as the catalyst for his change. I’m grateful I got to be a small part of that movie. With “The Lion King,” it’s going to be fun. That movie came out when I was born, and it was my favorite movie growing up. I sent in tapes for both Mufasa and Scar, and I kept praying that they don’t pick me for Mufasa.

There’s a Prickly Pear Extract (Exfolactive) that boosts natural exfoliation and also a Peptide that boosts cell turnover. This isn’t a full review as such, as I have only tried this out for a few days, but I have looked into the ingredients, and what the product aims to do and am giving you my thoughts based on that and how I have found it on my skin. I have also taken questions from Instagram and answered them, so I think you will find this useful. I purchased this to change up from my normal Elemis toner, firstly the scent of this is beautiful and it feels really lovely to actually use the product.I’ve noticed a notable difference in my skin tone and glow in my skin after using. As you may know, not all toners are created for all skin types, and your dry skin needs a formulation that won't over-strip your skin's conditoning natural oils. "If you have dry skin, look for toners with hydrating ingredients like glycerin, hyaluronic acid, lecithin, aloe vera, and rosewater," she adds. Thankfully, these ingredients are not only easy to find but are featured in an array of skin-care products across any and every budget. Toners are usually known for their exfoliating, dullness-reducing properties, but astringent formulations are noticeably being swapped out for some of the best toners for dry skin.

Best for Uneven Skin Tone: Charlotte Tilbury Glow Toner

The Charlotte Tilbury Glow Toner has a soft milky texture that I really like. It is not a clear solution like many traditional toners and I love that it has Niacinamide in, which my skin really likes and I find great on enlarged pores. Apply morning and evening to clean, dry skin using a cleansing pad or press on using your hands and follow with the rest of your skin care.

If anything, it adds a light layer of hydration while balancing the skin. It does feel really nice and refreshing and it’s great that it doesn’t have acid because I think it’s so easy to over-use acid by accident. It doesn’t give you that super boost of moisture that an essence does, but then it is supposed to be a toner and not an essence. This is slightly tricky because, as it is acid free, it has been formulated to be more gentle than a classic exfoliating toner, and in this respect, should be good if you are sensitive.

Wonderful product!

Step into the world of professional make up artistry with Charlotte Tilbury. Famed for gracing the faces of A-Listers including Bella Hadid and Kate Moss, Charlotte developed her eponymous brand by fusing Hollywood finishes with easy-to-use formulas. Brimming with skin care ingredients, the Glow Toner is a multi-tasking marvel that reduces the appearance of pores and resurfaces skin to reveal a moisturised, brighter complexion. Great question, although the answer here isn’t certain. Simply put, research hasn’t come to a full understanding about how this B vitamin works its pore-reducing magic, but it does!

And I thought why not a blog article and social reviews on three treatment toners in particular – a great one, a good one and, well, a pretty awful one. I decided to refer to them as “bad, better and best.” It seemed catchy. I’ve been thinking, though, that I’ve spent a lot of time, money and effort lately evaluating treatment toners that brighten a dull complexion. Many of them are really well-formulated; some are good, some are great, and a handful really are just awful, for various reasons.

As it has been formulated for use as a classic toner, and not an essence, I have been using it as the post-cleanse step, splashed on to a cotton pad and then wiped over clean, dry skin. A dupe is a cheaper option that is very similar to a typically high-end product. You can search for the cheapest dupe of your favourite products that influencers are recommending on social media, too. For example, Aldi’s Lacura range offers budget-friendly luxury skincare products and is well rated by users.

When it comes to the Skincarma Blog and my work on my TikTok, YouTube and Instagram channels, I have long striven to be as objective and honest as I can be about the hundreds of products I try each year. Please remember that results will vary from person to person. We're proud to say that all customer reviews are independent, authentic and do not represent the views of Cult Beauty or The Hut Group. Use the tab key or shift plus tab keys to move between the menu items.

The Charlotte Tilbury Glow Toner is designed as a post cleanse step. You should cleanse your skin, and then apply it on to dry skin. An essence if you use one, serum, moisturiser, SPF (day).

If dewy skin is one of your skin-care dreams, these nourishing toners will definitely come in handy. Formulated with niacinamide to help smooth skin and reduce the appearance of pores, this toner also contains sodium hyaluronate to help skin retain moisture. An extract from the prickly pear cactus flower, Exfolactive, supports the skin’s natural exfoliation process, while Poretight, a red clover flower extract, works to reduce the appearance of enlarged pores and uneven skin.

Higher concentrations of niacinamide can help visibly tighten pores by shoring up skin’s supportive elements. But I really wanted to give Charlotte Tilbury a try and the brand’s new Glow Toner with Niacinamide was the ideal product for me. It smells lovely and applies well, hydrating my skin and making it look glowy. I like this toner for boosting my usual skin care stuff and keeping my skin really hydrated throughout the day especially on non-make up days. I really rate all of the Charlotte tilbury skincare I have tried and this lives up to the brand’s high standards.

These are the musings of Carmine Montalto, NYC-based writer, skincare junkie and brand guru. The former copywriter at Kiehl’s, Carmine has more than 25 years of experience in beauty. Through the Skincarma Blog, he puts all of his product wisdom to work demystifying the ever-evolving world of skin care. The formula contains a couple of ingredients designed to boost the skin’s natural exfoliation process without using any added acid exfoliators.

It seems that niacinamide has a normalizing ability on the pore lining, and that this influence plays a role in keeping debris from getting backed up, which leads to clogs and rough, bumpy skin. As the clog forms and worsens, the pores stretch to compensate, and what you’ll see is enlarged pores. By helping things get back to normal, niacinamide use helps pores return to their normal size. Sun damage can cause pores to become stretched, too, leading to what some describe as "orange peel skin".

Louisville to start proactive inspections of rental properties June 1

“This will streamline our ability to contact property owners swiftly, [so] that we can facilitate the resolution of code violations and help overall city improvement,” Price said. Department of Codes and Regulations director Richard Price said at a press conference Monday the new registration requirements will help the city ensure residents have safe living conditions. Under the new registry, Codes and Regulations will be able to randomly inspect properties, something Greenberg says the city hasn’t done before. Property owners who registered under the previous system must re-register through the city’s online portal, providing the additional information now required under local law. The data relating to real estate for sale on this web site comes in part from the Internet Data Exchange Program of Metro Search, Inc. They will also have to file an affidavit stating they are in compliance with codes and regulations for the properties they own.

Louisville has required property owners to register rental units in a private system − only accessible by code enforcement employees − since 2016. But the new registry approved in 2022 will make all provided information available to the public, including contact information for each rental's owner and manager. Louisville code enforcement officers will start randomly inspecting rental units citywide June 1 to ensure all landlords are providing "quality, safe" housing for their tenants, Mayor Craig Greenberg announced Monday. Starting in June, Codes and Regulations will also start randomly inspecting a portion of rental properties each year. The sweeping changes to Louisville’s rental registry, require those inspections to be done in 11 market areas in Jefferson County where at least a third of residents are renters.

Greenberg said the new program is an “unprecedented” step toward ensuring the quality of rental units in Louisville Metro. Anyone who owns a rental property in Louisville, whether it’s a single-family home or an apartment complex, will need to register with Louisville Metro Government by June 1. Under new rules approved by Metro Council in late 2022, landlords have to provide the city with up-to-date contact information, as well as information on any property management companies they use. Mayor Craig Greenberg announced a new registry that Louisville rental property owners are required to join on Monday. From those areas, code enforcement officers will randomly select 10% of registered units to proactively inspect.

But that represents a small portion of the 77,000 units registered in the previous system. “This will allow us to help identify problems early and help tenants who might be afraid of retribution from their landlords if they report an issue,” Greenberg said. "We are excited to be announcing the details, and we are confident it will significantly enhance the living conditions for all of our residents," said Richard Price with Codes and Regulations. Any owner who fails to register by June 1 faces a $100 fine per unregistered rental unit and an immediate inspection by code enforcement. Price said code employees will send notices to landlords and tenants in advance of the inspections, "letting them know that we will be coming to the property on which date, as well as what our inspectors will be looking for." Code inspections are currently complaint-driven, which can lead some violations to go unresolved, city officials said. It is also intended to create a way for renters to report when they are dealing with issues that landlords aren’t fixing. Hearst Television participates in various affiliate marketing programs, which means we may get paid commissions on editorially chosen products purchased through our links to retailer sites. People who were already registered will have to re-register under this new system.

And also, I didn’t want to know too much about this character, because Kate doesn’t know anything about this guy, so it’s great to be able to start fresh. Having taken part in the hit series You, Charlotte Ritchie is slowly inching her way to the top steps of Hollywood A-listers. She stole attention with her splendid acting in the comedy-drama Feel Good before eventually scoring a role as Joe Goldberg’s love interest (or object of obsession?) in the fourth season. While keeping her love-life schtum, Ritchie spoke a lot about her Feel Good character George and the on-screen romance with the series’ star Mae Martin. “You go on a real journey with this couple and I find I just really root for them,” Ritchie told RadioTimes ahead of Feel Good’s anticipated second series in June 2021.

The nightmarish prospect of being stuck in an ancient Egypt-themed escape room with your ex plays out to predictable bedlam. Mae’s parents are extraordinarily deadpan and Kudrow is a treat. Mae has a number of nicknames, many self-inflicted, from Peewee to Adam Driver, from John Wick to Little Piss Rat and Your Majesty. There are brief sexual role plays that exist only as short punchlines, but steal an entire episode.

Her new TV show, Orange is the New Black, has become very popular; her fans love it. After breaking up with the actor Armisen, Lyonne is single and has not been dating anyone. She has been excelling in her career lately, focusing on it rather than engaging with other relationships. Even after their break up, both of them are still very good friends with each other.

Accomplishing that won’t be easy during changing times. Ritchie has also been strengthening CTG’s relationships with smaller theaters. This month marks the Kirk Douglas’ inaugural Block Party, intended to be an annual showcase for local 99-seat houses. CTG has collaborated with smaller theaters in the past, including producing in 2002 Deaf West’s “Big River,” which went on to Broadway. But Block Party represents an ongoing commitment to fostering smaller, often cash-strapped but artistically adventurous companies. In eras past, it was a struggle to tempt Hollywood actors, writers and directors to the stage, he says They tended to bolt midrun at the slightest hint of a pilot.

However, he was not hoping for the answer she would give back. They were playing Truth or Dare when he made his move. In front of hundreds of thousands of viewers, she turned him down and clarified that she was unhappy he had asked during the stream. Their commitment culminated in Lerman’s heartwarming proposal to Corrigan in November 2023, marking the beginning of a new chapter in their enduring love story.

"It's nice doing the journey of life together," Nicole shared. "Doing it with somebody else that has the same goals as you is a really fun way to live." It’s more fun to talk about the future when exciting prospects are on the horizon, including his campaign to connect the world of L.A. The series follows recovering addict and comedian Mae, who is trying to control the addictive behaviors and intense romanticism that permeate every facet of their life.

The fanbase for the show is so strong and loyal, and I know they’ll say exactly how they feel, which is great. And in terms of memes, I think there’s just one gif of me at the moment—it’s from a TV show I did a long time ago called Siblings, where I’m drinking. It’s so lame that I’m describing my own gifs, but it’s a testament to how few I have. So, fingers crossed there’ll be more, though it’s also my worst nightmare to be in loads of gifs. According to Who’s Dated Who, the Feel Good star has been in relationships with fellow actors Jack Ashton and Mae Martin.

When Mae Martin met Elliot Page

She appeared in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in 2005. However, she played a student in the background and the role was uncredited. Mae says it feels like there’s a “big wave of progress coming, and if people can just relax about it… it’s only going to benefit cis people as well”. It’s a story about about codependency, and addictive behaviour; what’s healthy and what’s not.

Where is Nicolette Scorsese now? Is she dead or alive?

There is an emotional heft, but almost every time Feel Good approaches earnestness, it swerves off. “You’re an addict, you’re anxious, you’re trans,” she practically drools (“Am I?” says Mae, baffled). Donna pushes Mae to expose a fellow comic’s misdeeds, live on television, on an inane panel show.

Alice, on the other hand, is a journalist by profession. Just like their parents, they also like to keep a low profile despite having a public figure in the family. Charlotte was born on August 29, 1989, to parents Elise Ritchie and Robin Ritchie in Clapham Town, London, UK. Not much is known about her parents, as they prefer to keep their lives private. Camille has a master's degree from Saint Joseph University's Writing Studies program, and she currently works as the Writing Center Assistant Director at a small university in western Pennsylvania. Camille's writing has been published on several websites, and she enjoys writing articles and short stories in her spare time.

There were many rumors that she was in a relationship with singer Rema. After leaving one of the concerts, the picture of two of them walking out and holding hands went viral. This created huge rumors on social media and paparazzi that they were dating. Ritchie and Martin were rumored to be in a relationship following their joint debut in the series Feel Good.

She encourages individuals to truly listen to their partner’s thoughts‍ and feelings, without judgment or‌ interruption. This fosters⁤ a sense of understanding and empathy, which are essential for building and maintaining strong relationships. Additionally, Ritchie promotes the idea of setting ⁢boundaries and respecting each other’s individuality, allowing for ⁣personal ⁢growth‍ and development within the relationship. Channel 4 did not pick up this second season, but it is a relief that Netflix did. It goes further into the mire of trauma, while maintaining one of TV’s sweetest romantic storylines.

The event was attended by around 130 friends and family members -- including Gwen Stefani, Gavin Rossdale, Khloé Kardashian, Samantha Ronson -- and featured a trained elephant for the festivities. Additionally, their daughter served as an adorable flower girl. "We waited on the first one and it was such an awesome experience that we can't wait to see what the next one is. It's exciting to wait it out." Shortly after Harlow's first birthday, Joel took to the Good Charlotte website to share a since-deleted post announcing that he and Nicole were expecting their second child.

Were bedroom scenes with Mae more or less awkward than with male actors? Sex scenes are always tricky, intimate and rely on the other person. It was a pretty easy process with Mae because we’ve got to know each other so well and grown comfortable with each other. Being almost entirely nude at work is a strange thing.
